ASTROLOGY the basics of what you need to know and how it can help you in your life
So you want to learn more about astrology? Astrology is a very deep and diverse field of study, in order to begin your journey in understanding astrology and working with your sign it’s best to go over the basics. Before we begin, let me define what astrology is first. Astrology is the study of the planetary alignments during the time and date you were born. By charting the placements of these zodiacs we can have a better understanding of our interests and how they can help us to align with our souls purpose. When we study and work with the planetary movements we can prepare for and strategize paths to align best with our needs and desires.
Placements
If you have your birthdate and birth time, go ahead and look up your standard birth chart. You can easily find (for free) each of your signs and how they are placed among the planets. It’s simple to search what each of these planets mean according to the signs they are paired with, so I’m not going to go into extreme detail on each one. However, I want you to pay attention to your INNER and OUTER planets. Your inner planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) really define your unique personality and how energy shifts for you. Your ascendant or (rising sign) falls in this category too, but it is not considered a planet. This placement is determined by where the sign was positioned in the sky at the time you were born, what was “ascending” during your birth. Your outer planets define the traits of the generation you were born in (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). When focusing on astrology for daily use its important to pay attention to your inner planets, these are the most important planets to study to learn more about yourself.
Inner planets
Based on the free astrology app or website you use (I’ll leave a few links below), take a look at the placements of your inner planets. With this information we can learn a lot about you!
Sun- Who you are deep inside, how you navigate the world, what you are attracted to, what you are good at, your interests and deep desires. Try new things that align with your sun sign, you might find out you have a special talent for them!
Moon- Your emotions, how you perceive things, how you react to things, how your brain works, your feelings. Pay attention to your thoughts, fears, and doubts, work with your moon to work through your emotions that best fit your sign.
Ascending- How people perceive you, what people categorize you as, your temperament. Put your best foot forward, working with your rising sign is a great way to begin relationships or find your strong suit when entering an interview!
Mercury- Your intellect, how you move through obstacles, how you communicate and work with others. Use this sign to enhance your communication skills, find what works for you in this sign. You might find it easier to gather your thoughts and put them into action!
Venus- How you love, what you value in a relationship, how you show up in a romantic partnership. Another way to discover your love language! Use your Venus sign to understand how to love and how to be loved the way you need to be.
Mars- What feeds the ego, aggression, and impulse. How you work with or against conflict. Understand what sets you off and learn how to control it when learning about this sign. This one can really help mend a lot of healing.
North node + South node
Two very important placements that get over looked often! Its great when you have investigated your inner and outer planets but what’s next? How can you use them to fulfill your souls purpose? This is where the North node and South node come in! These are two opposite placements on your chart that represent your past and your present.
South node: Your karmic past. What you are used to, your past lives, and where you can feel stuck.
North node: Your karmic present. What you need to learn in this life, how you can improve yourself. Your souls purpose and how to serve others.
Houses
You made it! You’ve learned your chart, how you operate, and your personality traits on a deeper level. Now it's time to use them in different aspects of your life and how you can expand on them. Not only are your signs categorized into placements based on time, but they are also based on position in the sky, also known as your house placements. Similar to the tips I shared with the inner planets, take a look at your house placements and discover how you can work with them to your advantage!

10. Career (souls purpose) also known as your MC which stands for Midheaven. Very important to understand to find a job you love and can do the rest of your life with ease.
